Horror + Comic = TV Show
The Walking Dead is an immensely popular TV show adapted from a pretty popular horror comic series. These days the comic community is at an all time high probably because you don't need to read comics to be a comic fan anymore, popular comics are now even more popular movies and TV shows, it's impressive really. Just thinking about it, pretty much everyone is exposed to comics, there are huge blockbuster movies coming out all the time, some form of comic TV show will be running if not 5 of them. Stores like HMV now sell graphic novels in their music and DVD stores because of the films. It's all just part of the world now and it's a great thing really, I just hope not every network jumps on the wagon just to get viewers no matter how shit the show might be, more and more adaptations are announced. There's a hell of a lot of DC shows around at the moment and a lot more comic to TV shows are going to be coming, like a big wave, there's bound to be some jellyfish in there somewhere ready to sting.
The title picks out horror impartially, horror is a pretty good way to go. There's so many horror movies around because they are cheap to make and easy to scare people with, easy money. Harrow County has been announced as an upcoming TV show, maybe they'll get the tone right, maybe they'll put a lot of passion behind it, maybe it'll be fantastic. It is being developed at Syfy and I actually have a little hope for it. But a wave of murky, salty seawater will come at some point in time and we should be prepared.
How do you feel about the impeding doom, do you think it'll even happen?
